Review: The novel “Emergency Contact” by Emergency Contact is a young adult novel about a girl named Penny and a guy named Sam. They both meet when Penny is going to college and Sam is the young uncle of Penny’s roommate (this book does not have huge age gaps if you are not into that, so do not worry). Sam and Penny’s friendship starts out slowly after Penny saves Sam to which they only communicate through a text message from then on. Both Sam and Penny have their pasts and are antisocial, but as they begin to get to know each other, they realize that they start to have feelings for each other.
This novel was good. I like how the book was told in the point of views of both Penny and Sam. However, I felt that some of the events that occurred were out of place and were just mentioned as a page filler. Otherwise, the novel is an interesting read; it is different in the sense that it is new and unlike any romance novel I have ever read.
I would certainly recommend this book. One would enjoy this as a read if you like cute romances and love random awkward dialogue. I don’t think this book reminded me of anything else, but you need to have an open mind when reading this novel.
